A little about me

MarionaMariona walking in a Tokyo neighbourhood

I design digital products that feel simple, even when what’s behind them isn’t. At Rakuten Travel I work on the app and platform for travelers around the world. Before that, at NTT Data in Barcelona, I designed for clients like Airbus, Zurich, and the European Patent Office.

I start by understanding the problem, right where business goals and real people meet. I believe in aligning early and often, and a quick prototype is my favorite way to get everyone on the same page. What I care about most is seeing the work actually make a difference.

Next, I’m heading back to Europe, closer to my family and my cats, to join a team that cares about the work as much as I do.

I grew up on Menorca, a small island in the Mediterranean, with four cats, the sea, and a pencil always in my hand. That’s probably where it all started. Later I moved to Barcelona, where I studied and worked for years.

In 2022 I finally made a long-time dream come true and moved to Tokyo. I’ve been happily soaking up Japanese life ever since.

Outside of work, I’ve traded padel for pilates and long walks, and I love getting lost in a Tokyo neighbourhood I don’t know yet. When I’m not wandering, you’ll find me sitting down with a caramel macchiato, planning my next trip.

01 — Overview

What was this project?

Vall Banc is one of Andorra's leading private banks. The goal of this project was a full redesign of the bank's digital presence — modernizing the look and feel to appeal to a younger, millennial audience while maintaining the trust and credibility expected of a private banking brand.

The challenge

How do you modernise a conservative financial brand for a new generation of customers — without alienating the existing ones who trust it precisely because it feels established?

02 — My role

End-to-end, on the ground

I led the end-to-end design process: defining the concept, structuring the information architecture, building wireframes, developing a new visual style guide for the bank, and delivering the final UI designs.

Beyond the design work, I worked closely with the client on-site, traveling to Andorra for several in-person sessions. This included running workshops and collaborative exercises to align on direction early and ensure the final designs matched their expectations.

Design deliverables

Concept definition · Information architecture · Wireframes · Visual style guide · Final UI designs

Working style

In-person client sessions in Andorra · Collaborative workshops · Stakeholder alignment across all phases

03 — Takeaways

What I learned

Working in close, in-person collaboration with the client made a real difference — it enabled faster decision-making and kept the design direction tightly aligned with their vision. This project also sharpened my presentation skills: learning how to effectively "sell" design decisions to stakeholders was one of the biggest growth areas for me.

Riyad Bank

Designing two companion products within Riyad Bank's wider app ecosystem — a children's banking experience built from the ground up, and the bank's core actions reimagined for Apple Watch.

01 — Overview

What was this project?

Riyad Bank commissioned a full build of their main banking application for iOS and Android. Alongside the main app, the project included two additional products: a dedicated banking experience for children, and an Apple Watch adaptation of the app's core actions.

My ownership was focused on the two companion products — the children's app and the Apple Watch experience — while also providing design support on specific screens of the main app.

Children's app — primary ownership

Apple Watch — primary ownership

Adapting the bank's core actions for a wearable — rethinking navigation and interactions for a much smaller screen

Main app — supporting role

Design support on selected screens of the iOS & Android app, collaborating within the broader team's established direction

02 — My role

Owned from concept to delivery

For the children's app and the Apple Watch experience, I drove the full design process end-to-end: conceptualization, benchmarking and research, wireframes and user flows, visual style guide, and final UI design — with close collaboration with developers throughout implementation.

The children's app required thinking about gamification as a core UX tool — making banking interactions feel engaging and age-appropriate for a young audience. The Apple Watch work meant stripping everything down to the absolute essentials and rethinking how users interact with their finances in seconds, on a tiny screen.

03 — Takeaways

What I learned

This project expanded my design range in three distinct directions. Designing for children taught me to use gamification not as decoration but as a functional layer that shapes behaviour. Designing for the Apple Watch forced extreme restraint — every element had to earn its place on a screen that small. And working across all of this within the context of an Arabic-speaking market meant adapting to RTL layouts throughout, which reshaped how I think about spatial navigation defaults.

Gamification as a functional UX layer — not decoration, but a tool that shapes engagement and behaviour

Wearable constraints

Extreme design restraint for Apple Watch — every element had to justify itself on a tiny screen

Airbus.com
Redesign Concept

A competitive proposal to reimagine Airbus's digital flagship — balancing engineering authority with a cinematic, story-driven web experience fit for a global aerospace brand.

Airbus.com redesign concept

01 — Overview

What was this project?

Airbus invited agencies to compete with a redesign proposal for airbus.com — one of the most complex and content-rich corporate websites in the aerospace industry. The brief called for a digital presence that could communicate Airbus's scale and technical leadership to multiple audiences at once: investors, partners, governments, engineers, and the general public.

Our proposal won the contest. The project was ultimately suspended due to the impact of COVID-19 on the aerospace sector.

The challenge

How do you create a single website that speaks to an aeronautical engineer and a head of state in the same breath — making Airbus feel both technically rigorous and visually inspiring?

02 — My role

Concept, direction, and words

I led the overall concept definition for the proposal — shaping the strategic and creative direction that guided every design decision. I also acted as creative director across the visual and interaction design work, and took ownership of the UX writing: defining the tone of voice, crafting key copy, and ensuring the language matched the ambition of the design.

Design responsibilities

Concept definition · Creative direction · UX writing · Tone of voice · Interaction design oversight

Context

Competitive pitch · Multi-stakeholder audience · Global aerospace brand · Won the contest · Suspended due to COVID-19

Airbus.com design screens

03 — Takeaways

What I learned

This project pushed me to reconcile two things that can feel at odds: the precision and authority that a brand like Airbus demands, and the cinematic storytelling that makes a digital experience compelling. Getting that balance right — technically credible but emotionally engaging — was one of the most demanding creative problems I've worked through.

It also reinforced how much UX writing shapes the perception of a design. Words set tone before visuals do, and on a project at this scale, having a clear and deliberate voice was what tied everything together.

Doppo Digital Car Insurance

01 — Overview

What was this project?

Doppo set out to be a 100% digital car insurance provider — allowing users to hire, manage, and personalise a vehicle insurance policy entirely from their mobile phone, with no need to visit a physical office.

The challenge

How do you make car insurance — a traditionally opaque, paperwork-heavy product — feel intuitive, transparent, and fully self-serviceable from a smartphone?

02 — My role

Website, app support, design system

My main responsibility was designing a responsive website to promote and explain the new product, extending the visual system already established by the team for the app to ensure consistency across platforms.

I also supported the app design, contributing to user flows and building components for the design system.

03 — Takeaways

What I learned

Conceptualising a new product meant researching what already existed in the market and identifying where we could bring genuine new value. I worked in an agile setup alongside POs, PMs, and developers, and helped build a design system from scratch — one that stayed cohesive across three platforms: website, iOS, and Android.
